Challenge

Brand24 needed a reliable way to ensure their website always works properly — without spinning up an engineering project.

Brand24 is a SaaS startup that provides a platform for online reputation management and media monitoring. They have clients in more than 110 countries, including Intel, Stanford University, and Twitch — so they rely heavily on web technologies always being up.

“Each minute of our website being down costs us not only money but also reputation” says Krzysztof Studniarek, Product Owner of Brand24. A marketing campaign that leads to a broken blog page is wasted budget and a lost potential customer.

  • Bugs detected too late were a waste of time and money
  • Classic SEO/URL monitoring missed real issues like pages loading without CSS
  • Selenium would require coding skills and developer involvement
  • No dedicated QA team to own browser-level monitoring

Brand24 needed an automation approach that a Product Manager could implement and maintain — without pulling engineers off the roadmap.

"I was surprised at how reliable BugBug's tests recording is. I tried a few competitive solutions, but none of them were as seamless as BugBug."

Solution

Automated browser tests with BugBug, executed every hour.

Brand24 created their first automated tests using BugBug in a matter of minutes without having to write any code. “I used BugBug tests recording, and it worked surprisingly well.” says Krzysztof. “Since April 2021, we run these tests every hour to check if the Brand24 website works as it should.”

Compared to Selenium, BugBug showed a dramatically lower overall cost. Brand24 implemented hourly monitoring without the involvement of the IT department — Krzysztof, the Product Manager with a technical background, simply did it by himself.

  • First tests created in minutes via the no-code recorder
  • Hourly scheduled runs verify the production website end-to-end
  • 8 active users receive notifications about the website status
  • Shared test maintenance across non-engineering team members
  • Priority customer support helps keep tests stable over time

Since the initial setup, the only recurring cost is the monthly subscription — maintenance stays simple thanks to BugBug's support helping fix and stabilize tests proactively.

Results

Hourly monitoring caught real, business-critical issues before they hurt customers or revenue.

Since April 2021, BugBug has run Brand24's hourly monitoring more than 100,000 times and surfaced several critical issues the moment they appeared in production.

BugBug Support noticed that some tests began to work slower than expected. After investigation, an analytics library was causing a significant lag on the website — and Brand24 removed it.

BugBug also detected that users could not log in after a failed release, alerted the team when multiple tests failed because the website was down, and flagged that the pricing page had gone blank — complete with a screenshot of the broken state.

Dramatically lower cost

vs. building on Selenium

Zero engineers

needed to implement automation

  • Prevented slow page loading caused by a third-party plugin
  • Detected login failures after a broken release
  • Caught full website downtime within minutes
  • Spotted an empty pricing page with screenshot evidence

BugBug provided meaningful business value without complexity and high costs — a Product Manager owns the automation, and the team gets alerted the moment anything breaks.
